Mesh to Micron Converter Online - Free Calculator Tool

Convert 600 mesh to micron, 800 mesh to micron, and any mesh size instantly. Free online calculator for calcite powder, dolomite powder, and industrial mineral particle size calculations.

Particle size is often specified in mesh (e.g. 400 mesh, 800 mesh) or microns. Our calcite and dolomite powders are available in a range of mesh sizes; use this tool to convert between units. For a full reference, see our mesh to micron conversion chart and how to calculate mesh size.

What is Mesh Size?

Mesh size refers to the number of openings per linear inch in a sieve. Higher mesh numbers indicate finer particles.

What are Microns?

A micron (μm) is one-millionth of a meter. It's the standard unit for measuring particle sizes in industrial applications.

Conversion Formula

Microns = 25,400 ÷ Mesh Size
Mesh Size = 25,400 ÷ Microns

GSM to Micron Conversion Calculator

Looking for a GSM to micron conversion calculator? GSM (grams per square metre) and microns (µm) measure different properties — GSM measures paper/film weight per area, while microns measure particle size or film thickness. Here's how they relate:

  • For paper and films: Thickness (microns) = GSM ÷ Density (g/cm³). For example, 80 GSM paper with density 1.2 g/cm³ ≈ 67 microns thick.
  • For mineral powders: GSM is not directly applicable — use mesh-to-micron conversion instead. Our converter above handles this: enter the mesh number to get microns.

For mesh to micron conversion (mineral powder particle sizes), use the calculator above. For paper/film GSM to micron thickness, divide GSM by the material density. For a full reference, see our mesh to micron conversion chart and how to calculate mesh size.
